Comprehensive breast care at Methodist Richardson's Center for Women's Health

The Center for Women's Health at Methodist Richardson Medical Center offers comprehensive breast care. Our multidisciplinary team of experts uses modern technology including digital mammography, stereotactic and ultrasound guided biopsies, and breast MRI to make early detection more accurate than ever before.

For those with an abnormal mammogram, a fellowship-trained breast surgeon is experienced in the latest minimally invasive diagnostic and surgical options. For more information about the services offered by the breast surgeon, visit www.RichardsonBreastSurgeons.com.

Services offered by the Center for Women’s Health include:

  • Breast imaging: Three full-time, board-certified radiologists dedicated to breast imaging.
  • Digital Mammography: for the early detection of breast disease.
  • Breast MRI: the most sensitive imaging technique to detect early breast cancer; it is particularly helpful in high risk women with dense breast tissue.
  • Ultrasound: diagnostic/interventional tool for the diagnosis of breast disease.
  • Interventional procedures of the breast: breast biopsies, cyst aspirations, and galactograms.
  • Bone density analysis: to assess break/fracture risks due to osteoporosis.
  • Resource library: access current information on women’s health issues.
  • Asian Breast Health Project: This project is an education and mammogram screening program for uninsured/under insured Asian Women who reside in Dallas County. The project is supported by grants from the the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. For more information, please call (972) 498-8601 or (972) 498-8603.

Mammography Screening Guidelines

According the American Cancer Society guidelines, you should begin annual screening by age 40. Women over the age of 50 should be assured that a traditional mammogram is equal to a digital mammogram. However, women who fall into one of the three categories (under 50, pre-menopausal and those with dense breast tissue) might want to schedule their mammograms at facilities using digital mammography.
