Imaging Services

Methodist Richardson Medical Center offers a comprehensive range of radiology services. The Radiology and Imaging Center accepts patients ranging in age from newborn through geriatrics.
How do patients check out imaging studies?
Preferably the patients will call (972) 498-4730 at least 24 hours in advance so that their electronic images may be transferred to a CD ROM. They will be given instructions to report to the radiology front desk and fill out a Medical Records Release Form. If someone other than the patient is picking up the CD, the patient must still sign the Methodist Richardson Medical Records Release Form and designate to whom the Images are to be released. Anyone picking up records must present proper identification.
How do patients get the prep kits for tests?
If your test requires a prep kit, it may be picked up free of charge from the Methodist Richardson Radiology Department, 2nd floor, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Other Helpful information
For female patients of child bearing age (11 to 50 years old) who are having an elective procedure, please check the onset date of the last menstrual cycle. It is considered safe to have the test if the test date is within 10 days of the onset of the cycle or if the patient is using an accepted form of birth control. With the exception of our ultrasound patients who may be pregnant during their ultrasound exams, all other patients are screened for the possibility of pregnancy to prevent exposing an unborn baby to radiation.
Patients who receive intravenous contrast should be screened for iodine allergies and diabetic status. If the patient is diabetic and taking metformin, the patient must not take this medication the day of the test and cannot resume taking the drug until 48 hours post procedure. The attending physician should monitor and determine when metformin may be restarted.
Patients having an MRI with contrast (gadolinium) must be screened for renal insufficiency which may require additional lab work to determine renal function levels.
Any patient over 65 years of age receiving intravenous iodinated contrast or Gadolinium (used in MRI procedures) must have a BUN and Creatinine level within the last 30 days. If not, this lab work must be ordered.
