Family-Center Approach
The first few days after the birth of your baby are so important. After nine months of carrying your child, you finally have the opportunity to cuddle and really get acquainted.
To give you and your baby all the time you want to form that special bond, Methodist Richardson encourages you to keep your newborn in your room with you as much as possible. You determine how much time you want to spend together. If you feel you need uninterrupted rest, the staff will care for your baby in the nursery, allowing you to wake up refreshed and ready to spend quality time with your new baby.
Private LDS and Postpartum Suites
When it is time to have your baby, Methodist Richardson provides you with a large, medically advanced labor/delivery/recovery suite, so you enjoy a comfortable home-like setting for the entire process. After the birth of your baby, rest easy in a private postpartum room at no additional charge.
Nursery
Our special care nursery is equipped to treat full-term newborns as well as premature babies requiring special care. Neonatologists are available 24 hours a day to provide specialized care during and after the delivery, if the need arises.
Security
Methodist Richardson's HUGS infant security system provides advanced, computerized security for your baby. Each infant wears a small tag around the ankle that contains a tiny radio transmitter telling us where he or she is at all times.
Parent Education Classes
Methodist Richardson's parent education classes will help you prepare for the birth of your baby and life at home after birth. We offer a variety of classes tailored to meet your specific needs.
Admissions
Complete our secure pre-admissions form without leaving your home or office.
Visiting Hours
The first visit with baby is a special time for new parents to experience the joy of being a new family. During this time, other family and friends will be asked to wait in the waiting room (just outside of Women’s Services) for 10 to 15 minutes, or until requested to return. We ask that visitors:
- Obtain permission from the L & D nurse
- Are limited to two
- Do not wait in the L&D hallway
- Do not bring children, other than the family’s own, who are under the age of 12, to the patient’s room. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
