Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy
Methodist Richardson Medical Center maintains comprehensive outpatient physical medicine and rehabilitation services. Appropriate for rehabilitation services are persons with orthopaedic and neurological impairments or conditions, including but not limited to:
- Orthopaedic conditions
- Musculoskeletal injuries to the back, neck, hand/upper extremity, foot/lower extremities
- Cerebrovascular accidents (strokes)
- Hip fracture
- Total joint replacement
- Multiple trauma
- Poly-arthritis, including rheumatoid arthritis
- Neurological disorders such as multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, Gullian-Barre syndrome, Parkinson's disease, motor neuron disease and polyneuropathy
Types of Specialized Treatment
- Post-operative orthopaedic rehabilitation
- Joint replacement rehabilitation
- Management of acute or chronic neck or back pain due to an injury or disease
- Sports injury rehabilitation
- Manual therapy
- Hand/upper extremity treatment for patients affected by disease or trauma, resulting in carpal tunnel syndrome, tendon laceration, cumulative trauma, lateral epicondylitis, shoulder injuries, fractures, amputations and many other disorders
- Augmentative communication for people who have lost the ability to express needs verbally, including post-laryngectomy patients
- Dysphagia treatment for individuals with acute swallowing problems
- Assessment of speech-language cognitive skills
- Post-mastectomy treatment
- Certified lymphadema program including manual lymph drainage complete decongestive therapy and compression garments
- Physical rehabilitation for cancer patients
- Treatment of geriatric patients ranging from post-CVA to arthritic conditions

Referral/Admission Procedure
